IS FASHION ART?
The answer to this question defines the essence of something precious. Because fashion can be just a trend, nothing more, as the dictionary teaches us: “the prevailing style (as in dress) during a particular time”.
It happened, many times, to see a trend, notice it in a moment, and in a second… no more. More or less tasteful, more or less exuberant, more or less expensive. Often simply artistically cheap. Created for fast use and even faster forgetfulness.
A PILLAR MADE OF STYLE
But when fashion becomes art, we are then able to speak about elements, styles, colors that become part of the artistry that crafts fashion, and makes it a relevant part of our ancient, modern, and contemporary art.
And among those elements, let’s choose the two colors that I want to talk about today: gold and silver, the colors that define the COLLINI – Milano identity.
HISTORY AND LOVELINESS
Their use, in the history of fashion, goes back centuries: our mythological heroes used these colors to adorn their garments, their hair, their looks. And yet, gold and silver continued to remain on the surface of the almost daily debate about chic and class.
Gold and silver in fashion are either loved or disliked completely. Nevertheless, they are very much used, on so many levels, by so many Maisons, celebrities, supermodels, and the general public.
"Gold and Silver are used in general for elegance made of baroque contamination, or strong references to the Byzantine and even Egyptian love for richness in details, accuracy in appearances” – I was able to capture this sentence out of Carmine’s conversation today during our coffee.
FROM TRADITION AND ELEGANCE TO ROCK AND ROLL
Then there is the next level. The level that makes of elegance, of richness in details, and accuracy in appearance just an engine for “rock and roll”. For modern, contemporary and even futuristic energy.
That’s the elegance of Collini: adaptable, versatile, fun, and certainly, unique. An elegance that embraces shapes, personalities, attitudes, and a hectic pace. Past, present, and future.
